Home / Oil Rotary Vacuum Pump Maintenance
Oil Rotary Vacuum Pumps are widely used in various industrial production systems. After continuous operation over time, pump performance may deteriorate due to oil degradation, wear of internal components, or issues related to temperature, vibration, and leakage.
ULVAC Vietnam provides inspection, maintenance, and repair services for oil-sealed rotary vane vacuum pumps, helping businesses maintain equipment performance and minimize the risk of unplanned downtime.
In particular, our services can support ULVAC and other brands of oil-sealed rotary vane vacuum pumps, depending on the model and the actual condition of the equipment.
After prolonged continuous operation in harsh environments, the equipment inevitably experiences physical wear and deterioration of its internal components. If it is not regularly inspected, maintained, and fitted with replacement parts when necessary, the oil-sealed rotary vane vacuum pump may develop a range of serious technical issues, which can not only reduce production efficiency but also lead to severe equipment damage and costly repairs.
| Part | Issue | Actual Image |
| Vacuum Oil | During operation, the oil continuously absorbs water vapor, dust, iron filings, and metal powder from the surrounding environment. Carbon oxidation causes the oil to age and change color, becoming dark or black, while losing its viscosity and lubricating properties. Oil contaminated with water vapor reduces the pump’s gas removal capability and extends evacuation time, while contaminants in the oil cause wear on mechanical components. | ![]() |
| Oil Seal | After prolonged exposure to heat and friction, rubber seals gradually age, harden, and lose their elasticity. This can cause oil leakage and allow air to enter the pump, reducing the vacuum level. More seriously, a dry and hardened rubber seal can tighten around and directly damage the pump shaft, creating deep grooves and scratches. This may result in complete shaft failure, requiring replacement at a high cost. | ![]() |
| Bearings | Due to continuous operation and insufficient clean lubrication, bearings can become worn. As the bearings wear, the pump may produce abnormal noises, such as rattling or cracking sounds. Increased friction can overload the motor, and in severe cases, may cause the motor to seize, preventing the pump from rotating. | ![]() |
| Rotor, Stator, and Pump Chamber | When contaminated oil containing metal filings and coarse particles is not replaced, these contaminants can cause severe abrasion on the working surfaces, resulting in deep scratches on the pump chamber (Stator) and Rotor. Once this damage occurs, it cannot be restored, leading to a loss of vacuum performance and requiring replacement of the entire pump chamber assembly. | ![]() |
| Van es and Springs | The springs that push the vanes can weaken, deform, or break after prolonged operation. Damaged springs reduce the pump’s gas removal speed. When a spring or vane breaks or becomes deformed, it may produce abnormal sounds, such as squeaking or loud impact noises, while also causing severe scratches inside the pump chamber and overloading the motor. | ![]() |
| Oil Mist Separator Filter | During operation, oil vapor is discharged together with the exhaust gas through the oil mist separator filter. After prolonged operation (more than 4,000 operating hours), excessive accumulation of contaminants can cause the filter to become clogged. Since the filter housing is not designed to withstand high pressure, severe clogging may cause the filter to rupture or explode when the pressure exceeds 0.03 MPa, creating a serious safety risk to workers and potentially damaging surrounding equipment. | ![]() |
